Merry Christmas

Christmas was a delight this year.

We woke up early and had a small, at-home, stocking stuffer extravaganza first. Kayla and I had already left the kids' regular stockings at their grandparents house, so we had to buy some on Christmas eve. The only stockings we could find however, where these HUGE red and white ones that had enough room in them to stuff the kids inside.

Needless to say we had fun trying to stuff those. When we finally arrived at Kayla's parents house, we decided to carry Oliver and Charlie inside them to the front door. The overall feel of this holiday season was "How many toys can we shower little people with?" I loved it, and the kids were ecstatic.

We also revived our Secret Santa list. Let me tell you, this system works. You got cheap family? Got friends who run short on cash? Find yourself suddenly unemployed before the holidays??...

...Secret Santa lists make it all better.

And since you make a list of gifts you would like under 30 bucks or so, even your family who aren't on the list can see what you want for Christmas. It's like a gift registry, and it totally removes the pressure of gift giving. Hell, it makes receiving easier too. You don't have to take something back that sucks ass, or fake appreciation to some sweater you'll never wear.

The RAT show on Christmas night was awesome too. Our first show, the early one, was a disaster of unparalleled embarrassment. We forgot our lines, missed cues, fell apart onstage, and got heckled into oblivion.

The late show was perfect...sorta.

We ended late but the handful of people who stayed laughed their asses off for the finale, which we really enjoyed doing. In the end, we discovered our plan for writing/rehearsing this show was flawed and will not renew the "hey, these things write themselves" attitude again. I think everyone really had fun though, and that's what really matters. We're not doing it for the money (yet) so it's really about bringing laughter to our old friends and introducing really disgusting humor to all the new people who find themselves at one of our shows.

Yeah, the spirit of Christmas was sweet this year.
