Okay, meet Ken.
Ken is one of those people who you can't ever really peg down. Sure, over the years you get to know the guy and enjoy his particular flavor of coffee, but he's still an enigma no matter how much you try to tell yourself otherwise.
Believe me, he loves that. He's worked very hard to be that guy.
Ken doesn't enjoy long walks on the beach. Ken isn't interested in fame. He doesn't like it when people make a big fuss about him, and he sure as hell isn't doing anything in his life for the applause.
Nope, Ken's a rebel.
You see, Ken's a certified genius. He's one of the few truly smart people you'll meet however, who doesn't wear it on his sleeve. Hell, he snubbed Mensa, ya know. (coming soon) Nobody questions his intellect though, or at least none of us do anymore -- cuz he usually whips out a brain bender for you to gnaw on for a week or so if you do, and then you'll be sorry you ever really tried to match wits with him. He doesn't do this because he likes one-upping people either. No, that's not Ken's style.
Well, he might bitch slap you in a game of chess if he thinks you deserve it. But its more about how he bitch slapped you when you really get down to it.
You see, Ken enjoys the sensation of your synapses firing away. He can feel them. Seriously. Nothing makes this guy tick more than saying something that makes your brain churn away or stop ticking altogether. Call it the blue screen of duh. He loves that, believe me.
Or he'll pop off something that flies right over your head....only to crash land a few days later with crystal-clarity and a paradigm shaking, life-altering thud of realization. He drinks deep the satisfaction of your deduction. He does not judge, but rather, indulges in your reaction, or your lack thereof. Hell, sometimes he wants to see if you'll even get it; while at other times, he doesn't even care.
Shit, the guy can enjoy Professional Wrestling and Set Theory (a Mathematics discipline) in the same afternoon. Enigma I say. Enigma.
Stir in some Monty Python, & Emo Phelps. Add a pinch of Albert Einstein. Toss in a few Malinowski's, Pascal's, and a handful of the worlds best storytellers and you have the beginnings of an understanding of what you get with Ken Murkot. He'll toss it all out the window the moment you get that far, so just settle in and get to know the man. Because while he's not out there being a loving husband, father, brother, son, friend, partner or an all around pain in the ass, he's thinking of ways to bless you.
Ken did something for me recently that means a lot. Its fun and it's a thing we're both excited about, and I can't wait to see the final fruits of his labor...but more importantly, he can't wait for me to see it either. I know he reads this thing, and he doesn't want me writing some big sappy mess you'd read aloud to the theme of "Chariots of Fire", so I'll make it short and sweet. (see how short and sweet this has been?)
Thank you Ken. You know how much this means to me, and that's why you did it. I know it "ain't no big deal" for you but I want to thank you for more than this. I want to thank you for finding me again and not letting me just slip away into my own apathy and indifference. You knew it was an important time to listen to me and fellowship with me, and you were right. The only way I can repay you is to be honest with you at all times and demand as much of myself as possible to measure up to what you see in me.
Three men are on a train.
A Sociologist, a Statistician, and a Mathematician....
Their train crosses into a valley with a cow standing beside the tracks.
The Sociologist says "Look, there's a brown cow on the hill"
The Statistician says "No, there is at least one brown cow on that hill"
The Mathematician says "No, no, gentlemen. There is at least one cow outside the train, of which at least one side is brown."
